Terms of Service
Last updated: September 24, 2026
These terms apply to the Mastering Fiction websites, courses, and Guided Copywork App, operated by Twiddler Inc. in British Columbia, Canada. Questions about access, billing, or these terms can be sent to teng@masteringfiction.com.
Your purchase and course access
Your order identifies the courses, bonuses, price, currency, access period, and any recurring payments included in your purchase. The specific offer and checkout terms shown when you buy form part of your agreement with us. These general terms do not reduce a more favourable promise made in your offer or a right you have under applicable consumer law.
A one-time purchase advertised as lifetime access does not require a recurring subscription to keep access to the purchased course. New courses, coaching, future subscriptions, and other separately sold products are included only if your offer says so. We may move course delivery to another platform while preserving the access you purchased.
Use the email address you entered at checkout to access your courses. You are responsible for providing accurate information and keeping that email account secure. Contact us if an incorrect email or missing enrollment prevents access.
Accounts and sign-in
Your account is for your own use. Do not share sign-in links, resell access, or let other people use your account. The app uses email sign-in links and may keep you signed in between visits. Log out when using a shared computer. If you think someone else has accessed your account, contact us promptly.
You must have legal capacity to make a purchase. A person who cannot enter into a binding contract must have a parent or guardian purchase and supervise access where appropriate.
Subscriptions and cancellation
If you choose a subscription, the amount and billing interval are shown at checkout. It renews according to those terms until cancelled. A one-time course purchase does not become a subscription merely because you use the app.
You can cancel a connected subscription in the app's Settings or use Open billing. If either option is unavailable, contact us. Check that you receive a cancellation confirmation; a request that reports an error may not have completed. Cancellation stops future subscription renewals. Access to subscription-only materials follows the paid access period and the terms of your offer. Cancellation does not remove separately purchased lifetime course access.
Logging out, unsubscribing from marketing, or stopping use of a course does not cancel billing. Cancellation does not itself refund a payment already made; the refund terms below and your legal rights still apply.
Refunds
The money-back guarantee shown in your offer at the time of purchase applies. For example, the 12-Day Copywork Masterclass is offered with a 12-day money-back guarantee. Other offers may have different periods. Contact teng@masteringfiction.com or reply to a course email within your applicable guarantee period, using your purchase email and order details so we can locate the transaction.
An approved refund may end access to the refunded course or subscription. This policy does not limit statutory cancellation rights, remedies for services not supplied as agreed, or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Using the lessons and copywork
You may read the lessons, complete copywork exercises, and download or print materials made available for that purpose for your own personal learning. Keep any copyright notices and source attributions with those materials.
Course explanations, annotations, designs, and software belong to Twiddler Inc. or their respective owners. Literary passages, images, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective rights holders. Copying a passage as an exercise does not transfer ownership of the original writing to you.
Do not redistribute course files, publish protected passages or annotations, sell copies, share course accounts, or reproduce the course as your own product without permission, except where applicable law permits it. References to writers and their work do not imply their endorsement of this course.
You retain any rights you have in original material you enter into the app. You give us permission to store, back up, and display it as needed to provide the service. That permission does not give us ownership of your writing or permission to publish it as a testimonial. Saved copywork is private to your account, subject to necessary administration and support access.
What the course provides
Mastering Fiction provides educational material and tools for fiction practice. Your results depend on your experience, practice, and other factors. We do not promise publication, income, a book deal, or a particular level of writing ability. Testimonials describe individual experiences and are not a guarantee of the same result for everyone.
We may correct errors, improve lessons, and update the app. We aim to keep it available, but maintenance, outages, and third-party failures can interrupt access. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Contact us if a problem prevents you from receiving what you purchased.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to access another student's work, bypass enrollment restrictions, attack the service, introduce malicious code, scrape protected course content, or use the service unlawfully. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect students or the service, investigate misuse, or address a material breach. Where practicable, we will explain the issue and allow it to be resolved. This does not remove any refund or other rights you have under law.
Deleting your account
You can request account deletion in Settings. Deletion permanently removes app access and saved copywork. The app asks for confirmation and a recent sign-in, and requires connected subscription cancellation to be confirmed before deletion completes. Keep any permitted downloads you want before proceeding. Account deletion is not a refund request.
Some transaction or legally required records may remain with us or our payment providers. See our Privacy Policy for details. If you want to return after deletion, contact support; deleted saved work may not be recoverable.
Third-party services and responsibility
Checkout, payment processing, email, and hosting are provided in part by third parties. Their own terms may apply to your direct use of their services. We remain responsible for our own commitments to you and will help with course access and purchase questions.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost profits, or outcomes we have not promised. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, excuses fraud or deliberate misconduct, or removes mandatory consumer protections.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms for future use and purchases. Material changes affecting existing access will be communicated appropriately and will not retroactively reduce the access or refund promises attached to a purchase without a lawful basis. The date above identifies this version.
The laws of British Columbia and applicable Canadian federal law govern these terms, subject to any mandatory protections that apply where you live. Nothing here requires you to waive a statutory complaint process or a right to bring a claim in a jurisdiction available to you under applicable law. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern.
